My Favorite Blade
I purchased a Benchmade Mini-Reflex in late 2008, and carried it daily for over two years (until I unfortunately misplaced it). I was very pleased with it's performance and ability to maintain an edge. I exercised the auto system regularly, and it never failed to open immediately - every time. It maintained an exceptionally sharp blade for the entirety of the time I owned it, and it seemed to never show wear. Quite impressive! I plan on buying another to replace the one I lost.

perfect in every way!
Love this knife! It is very well built, sharper than I can believe and opens in a flash. This knife might not be legal to carry in your state as it opens automatically with a press of the button (I ordered a similar benchmade knife but not an auto opener). The knife has a belt clip that is strong, it feels like it won't move until you want it to.Fit and finish 10/10 dull black, non reflective, fits well in hand, comfortableDurability. 10/10 sturdy, blade does not move or wiggle at all, feels very well builtSharpness. 11/10 came sharp enough to shave with!Awesomeness. 10/10 It's an automatic benchmade!Only negative is that it is not legal to carry here in Mi.

Knife review
I have wanted a Benchmade knife for years and after finally being able to afford to buy one, I couldn't be happier with the purchase! The knife performs as well as advertised. It's extremely sharp and the auto open feature is as smooth and fast as can be! LOVE IT!!!!

Awesome knife!!
This knife is a fantastic little knife. I purchased it for my job and have used it on a daily basis. It keeps an edge and is very well made. My only complaint about this knife is it is a little on the expensive side but when you buy a benchmade you have to expect that. Very high quality materials and workmanship. A+++

My new favorite knife
Promptly received my knife and wow am I impressed! The blade action is fast and snaps into place with authority. Absolutely tight, no play in the bade at all, Benchmade got it right. The blade itself is razor sharp and easily shaved hairs off my arm. The handle is very comforable, I was worried about that since I have large hands. About the only downside is that it is illegal to carry on me in NY. Great EDC knife, or just a high end knife for your collection.

"The Clapper"
Good knife you'd expect from BM. Easily carried with perfect fit and finish, large matt black pocket clip, all standard torx screws. I have the older version made from Gin-2 stainless steel, not the 154CM, but Spyderco (TM) used this in the past as well so it must be good. Replacement springs are required as it will break after years of use, but replacements are inexspensive.

A Great Utility Knife
I am in the U.S. Military serving overseas in Afghanistan. I wanted to buy a good quality and reliable utility knife and this one answered the mail. It arrived in short order and the automatic feature is a huge plus when you have a ton of gear and need a blade accessible with only one free hand to spare. Details I noticed were oil in the spring mechanism and the corrosion resistent coating will help deal with the harsh conditions, the pocket clip is a big plus. Friends have used similar knive in Iraq and loved them. I was straddling the fence on whether or not to buy it... I am really glad I did. A well made knife that is really being put through the paces and getting it done.

Product Description

The Benchmade AFO II 9051 is the evolution of one of the most practical automatic knives ever made- the 9050 AFO. The improvements made to this knife are substantial and appreciate. The BK1-Coated knife is large, sturdy and built for use. The satin finished 154-CM ComboEdge blade deploys quickly, and is the ideal shape for most applications (it's slightly wider than he previous AFO). The T-6 body is anodized black and is the idea size for a rock-solid grip. The AFO 2 had an over-sized firing button making the knife practical to operate even with gloves. The fully reversible pocket clip (tip up, tip down, left and right) clip makes is easy to carry and fast to access, but a black nylon sheath is also included. The sliding safety on the back does its job flawlessly. A glass breaker has been added to the bottom of the handle. The BK1 coating provides excellent corrosion protection, which exceeds the ASTM-117 spec for saltwater while possessing higher scratch resistance. A truly superior knife design in every respect. Good, not great.
For those of you out there who are really into knives, you know the feeling you get when your new blade comes in the mail. Excitement, anticipation, eagerness to open and play with it... I experienced all of these with the black-blade AFO, followed by a little disappointment and even mild panic. The first thing I noticed was that the spring was extremely weak. I own several other auto Benchmades, Protechs, and Microtechs, and this was the weakest auto action I have ever experienced from a reliable manufacturer. Protechs and Microtechs have such strong springs that some of them feel like they're going to jump out of your hand when the blade deploys. All Benchmades are a little more subtle, but still usually deploy quicker and stronger than this AFO. When I noticed the weakness, I started testing the degrees at which the blade would deploy when released from the handle and stopped with my hand, then released. It would barely open at any point past the handle, and after a little more...

Very good knife
This is the first time spending this much money on a knife... normally I buy a knife and either lose it or it breaks... then I buy another cheap one... Dropping $200+ for a knife that I am not going to be using it like rambo seemed a little crazy and my wife honestly was like what is wrong with you...lolNeedless to say I got the knife and now I realize why it's expensive. I've never held a quality knife before. As soon as you do you will isntantly feel the difference. Just like the user above me said about the spring action, it is a little dull/weak. I did his method and it changed it. The point to me was fine so I left that as is. My belt clip is actually very tight, almost to the point that I can't just clip it on, I have to use my finger nail to slightly open it then slide it on the belt. Overall I really do like this knife and it's kinda sad but I don't want to use it "AS MUCH" because it's nice and it was expensive..I give it a solid 4 stars only...
