Brilliant for Multiple Sclerosis Sufferers
I have a big problem.. high temperatures trigger my MS symptoms and when you LOVE gardening.. and all that weeding, digging, hoeing and growing.. and its 88 degrees and 75% humidity.. this can be a serious problem because the symptoms appear with horrifying speed, and it can be a day or two before I recover. However, to avoid this means working late in the day.Gardening late in the evening means 1. You can't really see what you're doing and 2. Skeeters and other nibbling bugs! So, I decided to try this jacket. First time, I soaked it in cold water and wrung it out. I had it on over my underwear and a pair of shorts below. Once I got over the shock of the ice-water sensation (about 3 seconds), the cooling effect was immediate. I worked for three whole hours whith temps in the upper 80's. Unbelieveable! No symptoms whatsoever! I have taken B12 Methylcobalamin 2000 mcg daily, made by Wonderlabs here in the US.. this has actually reversed the nerve and frontal lobe lesions...

it really does work
I give it 5 stars although for me, I have to do some extra steps. It works best if I don't wear a shirt underneath and if I refrigerate the vest after it's been soaked in water. Putting it on is kind of shock but it really keeps my temperature down. It kind of works if you just soak and/or wear a shirt underneath.Once you get it on, it doesn't drip.I haven't tried freezing it solid - just refrigerating or stashing in the freezer for 15 minutes. If you don't refrigerate, remember that it uses evaporative cooling and works best if the humidity is not high. I haven't tried it in anything above 60% humidity but the higher the humidity, the less effective it is. In that case, I'd buy two and keep one in a cooler with ice and just keep swapping. I think that is cheaper than some of the more expensive vests which have cool packs built in.

It actually does work
I own and operate a lawn cutting business. This year we have been seeing temps in the high 90s and low 100s with heat indexes 8 to 10 degrees hotter than this. I had to try this cool vest out, figured it was worth the try even if it didnt work... but it actually does work.If you want to get a full days use from the vest in 100 degree temps, you have to get the thing pretty wet... the con is that when you get it pretty wet it will tend to get the rest of your clothes and shorts/pants really wet too. I actually developed some sort of rash around my waist area due to being wet all day - but I'd rather have the rash than not use the vest."Cool" is a relative term with this vest. I would say I felt about 8 or 10 degrees cooler. So rather than feeling like it is 100, it felt more like around 90. But in my line of work thats a big difference especially when I am outside for 10 hours a day.If you can imagine wearing a sweater vest and getting rained...
