Wonderful product! Here's how to get it to work:
First off, let me tell you - This is an amazing deal. I have 3 computers, and while this doesn't work with two of them (It gets a scratchy audio noise, I think it's a problem with NVidia chipsets), it works with the third one. The problem most people are having is that it doesn't "display video correctly". After installing it, it should be recognized as a Syntek STK1160. You'll need to change the video from PAL to NTSC (If you live in America or Japan). Go to Control Panel -> Scanners and Cameras -> and right click on "Syntek STK1160" and select "Video Decoder Property". Change it from "PAL_B" (Or whatever it is) to "NTSC_M" (for America) and "NTSC_M_J" for Japan. You'll know the right one when it says "Signal Detected: 1". Enjoy ^_^ It doesn't work right with VirtualDub, but you can use AMCap (Google it) to record your video, and VirtualDub to edit and produce it. Enjoy your AMAZING deal :D

Wonderful little device after you get it configured properly
I bought this because I wanted a cheap way to get the movies from my DVR onto my computer. Also, I wanted to be able to lend this to my in-laws so they could transfer ALL of their VHS to DVDs. I played around with this thing for a good 3 hours and I almost returned it. I had tried the aforementioned suggestions but they weren't working for me. I finally saw a video on YouTube that showed how to configure it. I was able to get this to work on Windows Vista and Windows XP using 3 different computers (2 laptops and 1 desktop; all different video cards). Here's what I did: 1. I plugged in the device. When windows asked where the driver software could be found, I directed it to the disk. 2. After it was done installing the drivers, I installed the "Video Studio" software they have. 3. After my computer had restarted, I opened up their software (Ulead Video Studio SE DVD). 4. I clicked on the "Movie Wizard" button. (Windows Vista: If you get a message saying...

Product Review to help Fellow Online Purchasers
With all the negative comments about this product I wanted to give it a fair chance. I am writing this review because as a fellow online purchaser, product feedback is very important in making your purchase decisions. I almost did not buy this product because of the negative reviews but for $15 I figured it would be worth the risk and now I am glad I bought it. I have made a couple DVDs so far and it has been trial and error but I am getting better each time. This product works and so far is working great. The hardest part is learning to use the software that comes in the package with the Easycap. Just a few steps to get you going... Put the disc in prior to inserting the easy cap. When it autoruns then click on the install driver option. (There are more in depth directions that come with the product but they were in broken English so I'm trying to help with that.) The directions say to tell it not to search the internet then continue on and eventually you will get to a screen that...

This product is great but not perfect it has better quality then a DAzzle but only after i change some settings in the capture area heres how i did it 1. click capture video but don't capture. 2. click video type. 3. click mpeg. 4. click options, then click the 'SECOND' option. 5. click capture up in the tabs of the options. 6. move the quality meter all the way up to 100%. 7. then click advance. 8. make the quality DVD then scroll to the bottom then click 720 by 620 NTSC or the PAL option right below it if your in Europe. 9. the click display area and make it 16.9 then make the bit rate constant bit rate. 10. keep the audio were it is expect if the bit rate is under or above 224kbps then make it 224kbps to remove static. 11. now download a media encoder because MPEG isn't compatible with alot of programs. 13. Great product if you know how to use it.
With all the negative reviews I've seen for this product, I can't believe no one has said anything like this. The Easycap is a GREAT product. For the price, you're getting more than what you've paid. No, the software does NOT crash constantly. If it does, it's your computer. It DOES record in color with clear sound, you just haven't adjusted the settings well. I hate seeing a negative review on a product when the negative is actually the user. If you have any troubles with the product, go to youtube, look up some quality settings and follow them. You will have a great product.

Here is how I got it to work...
Hello All: I have a security DVR which gives me direct AVI extracts out of its USB port, but without audio. So my project was to find a way to video capture extracts from the DVR. I bought this EasyCap. Had to make several passes with the WinXP driver install routines until all of EasyCap's drivers installed. Then I installed their video capture software. I was able to get sound but only got fuzz in the video display panel. Then tried Win XPs Movie Maker. Same thing albeit more frustrating. Movie Maker would lock up after each attempt. Next, I went out on a video capture software hunt and tried several other products which had trial downloads. No luck and I was almost at my wits end. My last stop happened to be nchsoftware, who offer the Debut video capture software. And the basic version is free. Unbelieveably, after a little bit of fudging, the video feed from my dvr showed up in the Debut display on my pc. This amazing software lets you record in any of...

so far, so good
I bought 2 to stream video from 2 composite sources simultaneously. Had them both up and running in xpsp3 within 15 minutes of opening the shipping container. Very simple, follow the directions: hook em up, put the cd in, let XP search for the drivers & install keep hitting "automatic" and away you go. Change the camera config to NTSB from PAL if you're in the US like me. Win 7 was a little more tricky, I hooked it up, win7 tried to install some default drivers for video capture devices, they didn't install correctly, following the prompt I removed the adapter, that didn't solve anything so I hooked it backup, went into DM & updated the drivers by pointing to the drivers on the cd-rom and then forcing it to install the unsigned drivers, then rebooted and it worked. Not too difficult. Not trivial either. But this is standard fare for xp drivers in win7. The units seem to be built well though they could use a standoff for side USB ports on a...

Easycap DC60
This device works very well at what it says it is designed for. It is designed to capture video for use with editing. For this, I will give it a 4 out of 5 (HD would have been much more appreciated). However the reason I give this product a 5 out of 5 is this. By using programs like Windows Media Player Classic or even the Easycap program in view mode. You can play Console games on a laptop making them "somewhat" portable. Very useful for roadtrips, or vacations where a large tv is not easy to find.

Works Great in Ubuntu
All I had to do to get it to work in Ubuntu 10.04 was plug it in. I tried installing the drivers beforehand, installing all of the software that I could get to work in Ubuntu, etc, but for some reason it wouldn't work once I had done that. So I uninstalled everything camera related, rebooted my machine and it worked as soon as it was plugged in. In ubuntu the quality didn't seem to be quite as high as when I tried it in Windows 7, that could just be because of the recording program I was using though. Also, flash on ubuntu didn't properly recognize the output of the camera, it would invert the colors. But that's an error with flash, all other programs I tested including the built-in video chat worked great. In Windows 7, video quality is much better. I used the stream from a security camera's s-video output to stream to ustream.tv from my PC using ustream producer and everthing ran smooth. It doesn't seem to get too hot, just remains slightly...

Problem with Vista
The product installed easily on XP, but would not work with Vista even after driver downloads and YouTube help. When copying Hi8 tapes, the finished product was not as good as the analog tape. Product was returned.

Fills the bill
I needed an RCA video / audio left / audio right cable to deliver stereo sound from my digital converter box to my VCR (so I could record in stereo or play the audio through my stereo). For whatever reason, the coaxial cable was not delivering stereo sound. Radio Shak had only one cable on offer for $26. For a few dollars, including S&H, this cable works just fine.
