Great Light Bulb -- Some Problems
I love these LED light bulbs. I've got 9 installed throughout the house in high use areas. The light is pleasant and bright. The bulb is dimmable. In high-use areas the bulbs pay for themselves in energy savings in three years, and the savings increase when you consider the price of replacing burned out incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs. That said, there are still a few problems I've encountered with these bulbs that I thought I'd share.* Slight delay on turn-onThere is a slight delay between the time you flip the switch and the light turns on; maybe about 1/3 of a second, if the bulbs have been off for some time. It comes on at full brightness, so this is a great improvement over compact fluorescents, but the delay takes a little getting used to.A minor observation is that if you have fixtures with, say, three of these bulbs in it, the bulbs tend to come on at slightly different times. So when you flip on the switch...

Closest to perfect 60W replacement bulb
I tried a lot of LED bulbs and I like Philips products, including this one, the best. I hate harsh blueish color of most CFLs and LEDs, but this one gives a very pleasant light, about as warm as from an incandescent. Dimming is not very important to me - but I happen to have it on a dimmer, and it works great. I also like the futuristic look of the bulb. Price stinks, but as volume increases, they should become cheaper. Please note that LEDs should not be used in fully enclosed fixtures. Even though they are much cooler than incandescents, they may and will overheat when fully enclosed. It is because their tolerance to heat is also much lower (incandescent won't mind if you put it in the oven, but not LED).

Pricey nondirectional bulb replacement
First things first. Yes this bulb is yellow when off, it is also plenty white when casting light. The package even has a big label to let you know it doesn't throw yellow light. This bulb aims at addressing three of the four knocks on LEDs. One is that they are only good for spotlights, as traditionally the light from LEDs only go one direction. The second is that LEDs aren't good with dimmers. The third is that LEDs have retina searing glare because the light comes from pinhead sized elements instead of the larger, more diffuse, areas of competing technologies. And the fourth is that LEDs are expensive. Well 3 out of 4 isn't bad. The light comes out in a decent angle that would allow you to replace the bulb in most any table or floor lamp, and definitely any ceiling fixture. The light is a pleasant warmish sort, not the stark white we normally associate with bare LEDs, but more like the setting sun. This might be too warm for some applications where a harsher contrast is...

Best LED bulb on the market.
---IMPORTANT NOTE CONCERNING LED BULBS: You cannot place an LED bulb in an enclosed fixture. The fixture these bulbs are placed into must have air circulating around them. An enclosed fixture must house an incandescent, since the incandescent is not affected by heat. Place an LED in an enclosed fixture and the heat sink cannot function properly; it will slowly dim over several weeks until the brightness is only a small percentage of it's original luminosity. It probably won't suddenly go out, but it will dim considerably over time.---That said...As of today, September 2011, this is the best LED bulb on the market. I've tested several, and this is it.The warmth of the light looks like the . It's that close. The only difference is that is is...

Buy on Sale for the extra benefit
I absolutely LOVE these bulbs. I have the 6 and 7 wattage bulbs in the white light (great light for paiting or playing games) and also the warmer yellow light. I point them out to everyone who visits and they are impressed and say that they cannot tell the difference between the LED light or conventional bulbs. I am working on replacing all the lights in the house with EartLed bulbs--it is an investment, but our electic usage and bill has shown a noticeable drop already, plus they do not give off the heat of regular bulbs, so the AC does not come on as often. Buy them on sale--Earth Day is always a big sale with 6 watts bulbs around $10 and the 7 watts around $20. I only ever buy the bulbs on sale, and must say that this is the perfect way to be green (without the mercury issue of CFLs) and still watch your funds.

Excellent product
Perfect for mood lighting. The first thing that got my attention was the build quality. I expected the bulb to be of cheap, fragile plastic construction, but it's actually very solid and of good weight. The size is about as long as a PAR20 bulb and almost exactly as wide as an MR16.The color it produces is extremely vibrant, very saturated. The transitions are clean and look professional. As one reviewer mentioned earlier, things are a little more on the dim side. The brightest colors (blue and white) are equivalent to a 20 watt bulb and the dimmest color (red) is about an 8 watt bulb. While this perfect for mood lighting, as a party-lighting solution, you will require many bulbs. I recommend searching out and buying the bulb by the same seller without the remote when getting multiples. It saves a few bucks and you can use the same remote for all the bulbs. The remote has a range of about six feet and about a 60 degree spread. It's signal easily goes...

Wonderful light, with a couple modifications
Customer Video Review Length:: 6:15 MinsI love this light, and just wanted to give a few tips on how to get the best use out of it.Tips:1. You have to diffuse the light with something translucent like wax paper or tape in order for the colors to blend.2. You can get this same light for around $7.00 from other sellers, or the step up which is actually 5 watts as this one claims to be (but isn't, it's 3 watt).

The included IR remote can select an individual color or brightness level or choose one of four different transition effects. A quick comparison to the Lemnis Pharox bulb
I ordered this along with 2 other LED bulbs from Lemnis (Pharox 300 bulbs). I got the Lemnis Pharox bulbs from their website at roughly $30 (shipping included) each. This review is for people shopping around for LED bulbs and comparing brands. It has an OK brightness, enough for my bedroom. I'd say it's on par with the 50watt incandescent it replaced. It's brightness is on par with Lemnis'.Wins over Lemnis Pharox:-No buzzing, even when dimmed. The Pharox has this constant buzzing even when it's at 100% brightness.-Dimming works great (at least with my switch).. it can go from 100% gradually down to 0 without missing a beat. I think judging from some reviews, I just got lucky and it works with my dimmer switch.-Cheaper-Warmer white on the reddish side, much more pleasant than Lemnis' white. The Lemnis bulb looked almost greenish next to this one. I'm actually very happy with it's warm tone, it's very easy on the eyes. (a word of warning...

Works very well with dimmer switch - but there are several 'issues'...
I purchased this because it specifically says 'dimmable'. Most CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) and LED lamps are not compatible with dimmer switches designed for incandescent bulbs. They will either be damaged immediately, or their life spans will be severely cut short when plugged into light sockets controlled by incandescent dimmers. As it turns out, this LED lamps works very well:- At 100% power, it emits a bright white light in the forward-facing direction. The color temperature is not quite as warm as a 60W incandescent bulb or a 'warm-white' CFL lamp, but is a lot warmer than the typical bluish light emitted from a 'pure-white' LED lamp.- At the lowest power, the LED lamp dims down to less than 10% of its full brightness, while still maintaining the same color temperature. In...

Not there yet but getting better
I will know LED bulbs are fully satisfactory incandescent replacements when my wife says they're acceptable for her bedside reading light. This LED bulb comes the closest to all LED bulbs I've tried, but is not there yet.Pros:* Probably one of the best, if not the best, warm white LED bulb you can get for the price* No mercuryCons:* Color output not quite there yet - still too greenish (see photo I uploaded with a comparison), but the green appearance seems to vary depending on how and where the light is used* Still much more expensive than CFL's but getting cheaper* Directs more light upwardOther:* I'd say light output is close to a 40W incandescent... the 50W rating may be stretching it* Light gets fairly warm when in use, but not hot like an incandescentUPDATE 2011-10-20: Time has passed and I now recommend the LG 2-pack bulbs which can be bought for about $20 ($10/bulb) at a store that starts...

Honesty is such a lonely word when it comes to LED light bulbs
I started using LED light bulbs nearly two years ago. Since then, LED bulbs went through steady improvements, and prices have fallen by about 2/3, so LED lighting has become a more economical option by now. Unfortunately, as with any new technology, the marketing of LED bulbs is often filled with deceptive advertising and hypes. Lesser-known manufacturers tend of exaggerate the "incandescent equivalent" of their LED bulbs, in order to justify for higher prices. For examples:- The generates a luminous output of 450 lumens, yet it is advertised as equivalent to a 60W incandescent bulb (which generates 850 lumens).- The ...

Best for price - but keep in mind light output direction
NOTE: I picked these up for about $10/bulb (+ tax) at a place that starts with "C" and ends with "ostco". I am basing this review on that price... significantly higher pricing would results in a lower rating based on being poorer value. These LG LED bulbs are the best LED bulbs I have, and I've tried many in this style (and all are priced higher). This is because the light output/color (at 2700 degrees) is very close to an incandescent & seems to be the most pleasant light I've seen from an LED bulb in this price range (or even costing 2x+ more). The only main issue remaining is that the light output is mainly about 180 degrees (in an upward direction away from the bulb base), so that limits the applications that this light can be used in... so keep that in mind. For the price I paid from the store mentioned above, I'd have to give these bulbs 5 stars.

Nice light, slight delay
The light that these bulbs give off is great. It is a nice warm white. There is a slight delay (about 1/4 second or less) when you switch them on (only reason for not getting 5 stars) that makes you wonder if they will turn on which is kinda weird. Great product though.

Filled my house with these!
I purchased this bulb off of EarthLed's site when they first came out in April. Cost has dropped significantly since then (nearly $20). Previously my house was filled with 100 watt A-19 bulbs populating 6 inch recessed can downlights. I have approximately 30 of these. I tried a few of these to start and was immediately impressed by the INCREASE in brightness compared to my old 100 watt bulbs! Unlike the CFL's I was also testing these came on instantly which is a huge plus during the winter months. I now have 35 Theta's installed in my house and could not be happier. Wish they were dimmable as well but for the price they cannot be beat.

CFL vs Thetalux vs G7 9W LEDs, depends on what you want.
(posted this for the G7 bulb also):Our CFLs at the office has been working great for years but of course they eventually burn out. The same goes with the ones at home. So we wanted to find out more about the newest technology LED bulbs that seem to be showing up in stores a lot more than before. We got both the Thetalux 550 lumen bulb: EarthLED ThetaLux 9-Watt Warm White LED Light Bulb as well as the G7 9W warm LED (850 lumen) to compare it to. I would say the color temperatures they advertise are about right. Thetalux being 2700K and this one at 3000K. Comparing the two side by side, I would say the Theta is a bit warmer (more yellow) then the G7 (more white). As for...

The result is that a bulb developed by Dutch inventors, built with some (possibly most) of its parts made in Shenzhen China (see http://www. Philips, of course, would have known that they were ineligible, so they put out PR flak alleging that the bulb was the result of a global effort. The truth is otherwise, as evidenced in Philips patent application on the bulb, is otherwise. In one test 62 out of 100 bulbs failed. As a foreign based (headquartered) corporation Philips was excluded from eligibility according to the law that established the L-Prize, in particular public law 110-140 section 655(f)(1). The Philips entry also failed to produce the required amount of light.

The Philips bulb looks odd too -the light-emitting surfaces are yellow when the bulb isn't lit, yet shine white when it is. The Philips bulb has some advantages over a CFL: It lasts three times longer and gives off a more natural-looking light. Congress launched the L Prize contest in 2007, with the goal of creating a bulb to replace the standard, energy-wasting "incandescent" 60-watt bulb. Philips has been selling a cheaper, less efficient version of the L Prize bulb since 2010, and Crawford says it's done well - LEDs now account for about 20 percent of Philips' U. S. lighting sales, up from nearly zero three years ago. But the Philips bulb is not only up against $1 incandescent bulbs. For $25, or even $35, the bulb looks like a good investment compared to an incandescent bulb. This product image provided by Philips shows a state-of-the-art LED light bulb. The bulb is the most energy-efficient yet, lasts about 20 years and is supposed to give off a pleasing, natural-looking light. The bulb is the most energy-efficient yet, lasts about 20 years and is supposed to give off a pleasing, natural-looking light. Crawford credits the L Prize with pushing the company to focus research efforts on LED bulbs. Its bulb was declared the winner last year, after a year and a half of testing. Online, consumers will be paying $50 for each bulb, because utilities don't subsidize online sales.

Philips Lighting North America, which won a federal competition last year to come up with the most efficient possible replacement for the classic 60-watt incandescent bulb, is timing the sale of its new 10-watt LED bulb for Earth Day this Sunday. The L Prize bulb  gives off more and better light using much less energy than current incandescent and LED bulbs. Homeowners and industries have been moving away from the classic light bulb to LED or compact fluorescent bulbs, which are more expensive but save more in energy costs over time.
