Other reviews are misleading
I almost didn't buy this because of the other reviews here, but I'm glad I did. It doesn't stink, it has a nice scent to it. Somewhat minty, somewhat licorice/anise -y. A few drops diluted in warm water, used in an oil warmer, it's very nice. Can't wait to see what it smells like with the frankincense oil mixed in as well. Top to learn more

light and woody
The "4 ounces" of incense I received was about 2 tenths of an ounce under weight even when including the packaging, and the resin contained a considerable amount of bark and wood fragments. Placing the resin on a burning charcoal tablet produced the light fragrance expected, but with a noticeable woody smell and a bit more smoke than expected.Although my review is negative, I feel the product is a reasonable value and no attempt was made to contact the seller. Product Description
Though both frankincense and myrrh tend to bring up certain religious connotations to the western mind, they have been in active use as magical incenses, ritual tools and for their healing properties since at least 1500bc. Resin incenses are the top of the line in incense burning. Using incense charcoal as a base, you can release the intense fragrance of these fine resin granules -- without the dilution or alteration of scent caused by a burning base or the fixatives typical in man-made stick or cone incense. Frankincense Tears are known for their use in consecration, meditation, protection and purifying. Myrrh is known for: Protection, purification, healing and magical potency. Both are known for their use as a sacred tool in many cultures. 1 lb. Top to learn more
Love it but... the myrrh is full of wood chips..
I love it but.... myrrh is a rock hard resin, some of the myrrh in this bag of frankincense and myrrh is wood chips. Some other unidentifiable debris (a piece of thick green nylon thread, dirt, dust). Arrgh. Still, I love the smell of this stuff and would buy more. Top to learn more

She or he is offering Jesus myrrh, a narcotic. In Mark’s account of Jesus’ passion which we just read together, Jesus has revealed nothing of his private thoughts or his personal feelings since the Garden of Gethsemane. One family friend of mine named James described the interior suffering caused by his depression as living in a pit of utter darkness—a darkness that is so complete that not even one single ray of light can pierce it. And in Rose’s case, apparently... And they offered him wine mingled with myrrh. Suffering…suffering with a pure and willful consciousness, terribly sensitive to every thorn and cut and scornful slur—suffering. Those of us who have lived through a situation like Rose’s know that the interior suffering and pain experienced by those who take their own lives is immense—even unimaginable. The wood beneath his head might seem like a pillow following the long and exhausting march from the place of Jesus’ judgment to the place of his execution. Mark writes, “But he did not take it. ” Jesus shakes his head no. He will not drink from a cup filled with a narcotic. Jesus, stripped of his clothes, is laying on his back, his head and hands arranged on the patibulum, the crossbeam by which the Roman soldiers will lift him bodily to a thick post for execution. However, just before the unconscionable act of piercing human limbs with metal can begin, some sweet soul rushes over and kneels by Jesus and offers him a drink. Unexpectedly by the account of all who knew her, one day Rose checked herself into a local motel, penned a brief note and proceeded to take her own life. This suffering Jesus is attending to with every nerve Mark writes, “And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means the place of a skull).
