i purchased this item after receiving an alarming result of my dog's urine analysis..professional lab result, & $50.00, showed a ph of 8.5..i immediately ordered these strips, first thing the morning after receiving the strips, tested urine was 6.5.....every morning result was the same 6.5...two subsequent diagnostic lab tests in the weeks that followed, with no treatment to cure an elevated ph, showed a ph of 6.5 exactly what these strips had told me.....if you need to check your ph, these strips really work.

Seem pretty accurate. Container could be a little more user friendly
Because we wanted to be sure that the pH strips we were purchasing were accurate, we bought two different types. We bought these (the Phinex) strips and we also bought the "PHion Balance PHion Diagnostic Ph Test Strips, 90-Count"Our family tested out both of the different strips over a few weeks and found that these strips (the Phinex) were much more accurate than the PHion strips.Water should have a pH of 7.0 so, assuming that our water is what it should be, we tested these strips and they were right on 7.0 from our water.We tested the other strips (the PHion) and they tested the water as 6.5-6.75.Testing ourselves, we found that the other strips (the PHion) tested more acidic than the Phinex.The only thing that we don't like about these strips (the Phinex) is that they come in a plastic container that makes it hard to get the lid on and off. It would be so much better if they came in a little bottle like the PHion do...

NOT-Defective (Phinex Diagnostic Ph 80ct - 2 pack)
This is my original:After reading a review, I tested both packs with distilled water (should be close to 7), both measured around 5.5 or so.Then got a NaCl IV from a doctor friend. this one supposed to be very close to blood ph of 7.35-7.45. they measured 5.5 and 5.75 or so.I'm returning it. Not happy at all as I bought it based on reviews. Darn it, it should NOT be difficult to measure PH level.This is the Edited version: I was wrong. after reading more about it, it does not work on water. I did more testing, and it's actually pretty good. I moved it form 1 to 4 stars. the missing info that took me at 2 hours worth or reading should not be missing, that's why not 5 stars.

After reviewing most of the PH test strips I have decided to try these for urine PH test. The following info from the mfg product description is important to this decision. Great portability
You can take this wherever and get a good reading of anything....yourself after certain foods, you can test water, even your pets' ph levels!The only con, in my opinion, is the small scale of colors.But I traded comfort and portability for accuracy and more detail. I'm ok with that, I can always purchse a ph test kit with more colors on the scale and keep it at home.

FInally!
I finally found some decent pH strips for testing. Can't for the life of me figure out why they are so hard to find in my town--it's like they could be illegal or something! Anyway, these are fine! Nice wide range, easy to read color, you get a hundred in the package. I was surprised to see how small the box was, but really, how big do you need your pH strips to be? Now that I've done the research and the nearly endless searching, I'll know where to find the next box. (which I may not need for a long time, but maybe I shoud go ahead and buy one anyway...). I should have scanned Amazon first! Depends on what you are testing, but I like that these will test from 1 all the way to 14. Acid? Alkaline? You might finally get a chance to find out!

They look like match sticks
There are so many of these things to choose from I was lost, I think I decide on these because they only have one square and not like...5, like some of the other test stick (an overkill for my purpose) they seemed kind of flimsy, like match sticks when I took them out of the box, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and they work great. I wanted them to test the pH of my hair products and they did not disappoint.

I used these test strips to test my aquarium water. As expected, it put it at somewhere between 5 and 6, which is good for my aquatic plants, but a little harsh for my cichlids. My tap water tested at 6, and I did tests against bleach(don't remember) and orange juice(around 3.5). I checked ph levels against standard results from google search. All appeared in general range of expected results. Color chart was easy to read, but only good if you just need approximate numbers. As advertised, only whole numbers, but you can kind of see when it is between two numbers in color(hence the 3.5 on oj), so a little better than I had anticipated.General process is: dip paper in water, shake off excess, and immediately look at chart and compare.I thought about buying a digital ph tester, but then i read about them. This is cheaper, and in many ways better(substantially lower cost, no maintenance, no broken storage liquid, no calibration)You can quickly test...
