Product Description

You're looking at a 10 grams of Precious Metal Clay made by Mitsubishi Materials, curable at 600 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or 700 degrees for 10 minutes. Perfect for your jewellery needs.

10 grams is sufficient silver clay to craft a silver pendant / jewellery piece or wide silver ring and is roughly equivalent in size to five US 1 cent coins, or five Euro 2 cent coins or three UK 1 penny coins.

Precious Metal Clay or Silver Clay combines microscopic particles of silver with water and a non-toxic organic binder to create a material that can be worked as easily as modelling clay. Limiting your creation only by your imagination. Objects can be made with simple tools, then they are dried and heated in a small kiln or over a convention a gas stove (special tray required). This drives off the water, burns away the binder which fuses the silver particles into solid metal. PMC is also made in gold, which handles like original Precious Metal Clay but has a slightly different firing schedule. Top to learn more

Product Description

Precious Metal Clay is a great clay to use for various Metal Clay projects. PMC 3 consists of 85% fine silver and 15% binder by weight. This variety of PMC shrinks 10-15% during the firing process. PMC3 results in 99.9% silver when fired. PMC 3 contains smaller particles, which means that it has a higher metal content and therefore shrinks less when fired. Try out PMC 3 for yourself and see how great it works. Can be fired as low at 1110F. Can be torch fired in 2 minutes. Final product is .999 fine silver. Learn more... Uses This form sinters more solidly than the original version and results in a stronger final product. This version can be used to craft any type of item, and it is especially recommend for rings. When fired at the highest temperature (1650F), it produces the strongest final product. It must be burnished well before soldering and uses surprisingly more solder than sheet or wire forms of sterling silver. Workability PMC3 dries more quickly than PMC Standard, so care must be taken to quickly remove and save scraps. Unused clay should be kept tightly sealed so that no air can contact it. Embedded Objects Any object that can withstand the firing temperatures and times of PMC3 can be embedded and fired in place. Some natural gemstones, lab gems and cubic zirconia's can be used, as well as dichroic glass and porcelain. Findings and some types of glass can also be embedded when fired at the lowest temperature. A 'Must Have' for Beginning Metal Clay Enthusiasts
Having already had the fortune to attend one of Tammy Garner's Metal Clay classes in person, I can say that reading her book "Metal Clay in a Day" is just like having her in the room with you, passing on helpful tips and techniques to create fantastic metal clay jewelry! The book takes away any intimidation a beginner might have about working with metal clay, because the projects are well laid out, don't take very long to do, and look great when they're done. I was particularly impressed with her tips on everything from where to buy practical yet inexpensive tools, to finding unusual textures for clay stamping all over your house (she made a beautiful pendant simply using the texture of a toothpaste cap!). This book will leave you eager to get your hands on some metal clay to try her projects out yourself.

Inspiration - 27, Intimidation - 0
The 27 clever projects in Garner's book will definitely inspire you to give metal clay a try. Even someone (like myself) who doesn't have a lot of experience working with this material won't feel intimidated to give these projects a try. The step-by-step photos are large and easy to follow along with the well-written instructions. Another plus, the projects in this book are beautifully designed and don't require a lot of special tools, etc. to complete. After reading the basics section, I feel comfortable with torch-firing some pieces and skipping the purchase of a kiln for now. Although the bracelet on the cover is wonderful, I would have to say my favorite project is the "totally tubular necklace", which I can't wait to try. If you're interested in metal clay but are a little unsure about how to get started, this is the book for you!Kim Cavender, author of "Polymer Clay For the Fun of It"

Tammy's insistence on finding what's around the house to use in her work will have you looking at your surroundings in a whole new way!The "Tips" were overall my favorite part of the book. Tammy shares tips and hints to make your work better. Everyone will learn something new.Projects, tips, a fun writing style all make this a great introduction to precious metal clay the no muss, no fuss way. Good Job!
