Zwieback
Very light slightly sweet crunchy biscuit bread. Tastes great just with butter but you can put anything on it. It's so light that it's also great for upset stomachs etc. I eat it for breakfast every morning. I like "Brandt" the best.

Brandt Zwieback is something for everyone and every generation...I like the whole grain one best, soaked in milk, but the original one is good, too. Don't Take my Biscuit Mommy
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:52 MinsI was going to write about how much my son LOVES Earth's Best Teething Biscuits, but I thought he could just show you how much he LOVES them in this video. The biscuits do get soft after some time, but we just break of the soft piece and give him back the rest of the biscuit. I would advise not to give these biscuits to a child until they've learned to chew puffs with their gums, so even if they were able to break of a piece themselves, they know to chew on it before swallowing. My son is 7 months old in this video by the way.

Great product
I love how they come in individual packages. They taste good. I know because I tried one. They're about as sweet as a graham cracker but as hard as a ginger snap. Like everyone else said, they do get goopy, but babies are messy and the sooner you come to terms with that, the better you'll be as a mom! Most importantly, they're not made of horrifying bleached flour or high-fructose corn syrup (still don't know what that is...). These are the best, so stop wasting your time looking!

Messy but Tasty!
We started giving these to our 9-month-old son when he cut his first two teeth. He LOVES them...we're talking devours them. They melt easily in his mouth, so we're not too worried about him choking on them (I tried them first to make sure they were OK for him), but he gets practice self-feeding and biting into it. They are actually better for him to actually BITE on than the Baby Mum-Mums that we have, since they are thicker and don't just break off with his lips or in his hand easily like the Mum-Mums.My biggest complaint with these is the mess. They get EVERYWHERE! We have since decided that he can only have them in his high chair wearing a bib, and even then they are sure to get all over the place. We will still give them to him because he likes them so much, sometimes they are the only thing that pleases him. Please be aware of the mess, and that they do leave marks on clothing that will need to be washed afterwards.

Zwieback Cookies


  Each food participant was able to practice making two dozen zwieback and were able to take the zwieback they made home with them.   The various steps needed to make the dough, kneading the dough after it had time to rise, pinching the balls of dough and learning ways to making sure the tops didn’t fall off were demonstrated during the class.   In addition, participating individuals will receive the recipe used for the class, a taste test of the food prepared and any extra food that was made during the class. During April participants learned how to make Zwieback under the direction of Mary Ellen Pankratz and Jill Weisheit at Mary Ellen’s home. Ethnic Food Demonstrations are being each month as a way to celebrate the food that is unique to the community of Henderson.   Included in this cost is the cost of ingredient needed to hold the class and the instruction.

Bake for 30 minutes at 190 degrees (Celsius) and then lower the temperature to 160, take the loaves out of the forms, and bake for further 15 minutes (they have to look golden brown). Knead for 20 minutes by machine (or 15 by hand), adding the salt only before the last 5 minutes of kneading. Let rest for 30 minutes covered with plastic foil. Let rest, covered with plastic foil for 1 to 2 hours in a lightly warm place. I am so happy I resolved to do my own fette biscottate, not only because I could not find them in Sweden, but also because, as usual, I could control the ingredients: organic flour and eggs, a little organic sugar, and good quality oil. Melt the yeast in the water with the malt extract (or honey) and let rest 5 minutes. Anyway, not having fette biscottate available led me to switch toward salty types of breakfasts (I just can’t eat cereals), which in the end pumped up the amount of food I eat in a day.

  Included in this cost is all the ingredients used for the class, the hand-on instruction, taste testing during the class, and any additional food made during this class will be taken home by those attending. There are only 17 spots available for this class, so it is best if tickets are purchased ahead of time at the Henderson Chamber Office to ensure that you have a spot.   Each month there will be an opportunity to honor the past as Ethnic Food Demonstrations will be held one Saturday each month.   This month the students will learn how to make Zwieback from Mary Ellen Pankratz in her home at 10:00 a. m. on Saturday, April 28.  Each participant will also receive the recipe for each class they attend, so they can make the recipes at home. Celebration of Henderson, the goal is to Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present and Explore the Future.
